Well, here’s a few FAQ’s to help you on your way!

 
  • Ponden Mill is an 'exclusive use' venue which means we only ever permit and host one event at a time. The venue is set on private grounds and you will be the only couple getting married and the collection of accommodation, grounds and our experienced team of staff will all be dedicated to looking after you and your guests for your entire event.

  • We have x9 tables measuring 2.4m x 0.6m these seat 8 guests each - we have x1 table measuring 2.4m x 0.6m this seats 6 guests - we have x1 table measuring 1.2m x 0.7m (sweet heart top table) this seats 2 guests - we have x2 tables measuring 1.9m x 0.7m these seat 3 guests each and make up our top table - maximum seating for top table is 8 - The room is 8.4m wide x 18.5m long

  • Yes, we are a licensed venue. We also have an outdoor space which can be also be used for ceremonies (If the English weather allows)

  • Jill Raine at Bradford Council is in charge of all the registrar's.

  • Yes. We have some beautiful churches close to us. To name but a few, St Michael and All Angels Church, Haworth (located on Main Street) or St Mary's at Oxenhope. If you do choose to get married in a church, you can then come back to us at Ponden Mill for your wedding breakfast and reception.

  • Capacity at Ponden Mill is capped at 100 guests.

  • Yes, as long as the 100 guests capacity is not exceeded

  • There are several options for music - the most popular is to hire a DJ or a live band. You may choose to have a combination of both. Amplified music is NOT permitted outside apart from aisle walk music. All live music and DJ’s must cease by 11pm

  • No, we currently have no sound limiter. All we ask is all DJ’s & bands are considerate to our neighbours and if we feel the volume is unreasonably high we may ask for it to be turned down slightly. But not too much, we don’t want to be the vibe killers :)

  • We do have a PA system complete with bluetooth microphone which is included in the venue hire. We would not recommend using this system for your evening entertainment

  • Ponden Mill provides you with a wonderful backdrop upon which you can style and decorate as you wish. We only ask that nothing is permanently attached so that anything you bring along or attach to the venue can be detached at the end of your day. We also have a very comprehensive list of 'Recommended Suppliers' to help you on your way but they are just that 'recommended' and you are more than welcome to select your own. Please do bear in mind however that many of the trusted suppliers on our list have been to the venue a number of times and therefore have built up a relationship and know the venue well. Having said that we are frequently impressed by new suppliers that visit us and as a result we welcome the fact that our list is always evolving.

  • Ponden Mill dates back to 1792 and still has many original features. Due to the potential risk, fireworks are therefore not allowed at the venue. Naked flames are also not permitted unless they are enclosed in lanterns. Confetti is allowed in the form of dried petals only and outside of the Mill

  • Ponden Mill have an extremely efficient and well-practiced process for the various 'turnaround' plans that need to take place during your wedding day. If your ceremony is indoors in the main room and therefore followed later on by your wedding breakfast, "Bluebell Island (if the sun is shining), the "Train Shed" area (adjacent to the main room), and our bar area, are all available for guests to enjoy their reception drinks and canapes.

  • Yes we have both central heating for the winter and air conditioning for the summer.

  • We do not have any outdoor heaters.

  • Yes accommodation is available to hire. This can be booked directly through Richard & Barbara at Ponden Mill using the email address provided pondenevents@gmail.com

  • Available to hire is the "Cottage" where you and your wedding party can get ready for your wedding day.

  • We fully understand that the catering plays a vital role throughout the course of your wedding day and as such we are passionate about delivering each element to a very high standard. Our in-house caterers The Outside Kitchen will take care of all of your food requirements. TOK use the very best hand-picked produce available to create beautiful menus and inspire with a range of dishes created to complement your day. Booked couples are able to arrange tastings to sample dishes before confirming decisions on their menu selection.

  • At Ponden Mill we have a great selection of options for your evening food. Street food options such as wood fired pizzaz, loaded fries & burgers go down a storm after a few drinks! This is something that we will discuss with you at the tasting session. The various options are available to look at on the downloadable menus.

  • There is a charge for cutting the cake. This service is charged at £2 per head. This price includes napkins, bio-degradable cutlery, crockery and staffing.

  • Ponden Mill Weddings supplies all alcohol for your wedding day and has a comprehensive Wine and Drinks List. There is no corkage or "bring your own" option available. We also have a well-stocked bar with a good selection of wines, spirits, lagers, ale and soft drinks. Our bar accepts both cash and cards but not American Express.

  • The car park at Ponden Mill has plenty of parking space for all guests, with space for 75 guests and the capacity to accommodate larger vehicles, such as a coach or bus. Cars can remain in the car park overnight until 11 am the following morning.

  • Ponden Mill close the bar at 11pm, All live and amplified music must also cease at 11 pm. Guests are expected to have pre booked taxis to collect them at 11.30pm with all guests who are not in the on site accommodation to be off site by 12am

  • With regards to the cleaning of the mill that is down to us. You and / or your suppliers will be expected to clear the mill of any external decorations the next day by 12 noon.

  • We are always on hand to help where we can with all aspects during the build up to your wedding i.e timings and supplier recommendations via email or on the phone. We do not offer a coordination service but we do work to all timings that pertain to the bar and food service(s).

  • Yes. We fully appreciate that each couple have different ideas for how they would like their day to run. We work with you to create the structure that you would like.

  • At the tasting evening we will go through timings and general running of your day. The basics of the day will be run by us i.e. asking guests to be seated for lunch.

  • Yes, we would recommend you come along to one of our "Open days" this is when the venue is dressed fully and will also have some of our recommended suppliers on site. We can facilitate private viewings, however the venue would not be dressed fully and no suppliers would be on site.

  • To secure your booking at Ponden Mill we ask you to put down a deposit of £1,500 + VAT The remaining balance will not be due until 2 weeks before your wedding day.

  • The only additional cost is for day guests numbers over 80 cost is £15 per head (this covers their welcome drinks) and for legal ceremonies at Ponden Mill £300 (this covers the turnaround of the room from ceremony to wedding breakfast)

  • Couples invest a considerable amount of money into their wedding day and we always advise looking into the various insurance policies on offer. On rare occasions couples can be faced with unforeseeable circumstances or may find they need to cancel their wedding. Wedding insurance isn't just about a change of heart, it's about making sure you're not left out of pocket if something goes wrong and we suggest that it may well be worth considering wedding insurance which can offer peace of mind in case of something unexpected.

  • Yes, we do.

  • Yes, we have access and toilets for disabled and elderly guests.

  • Our packages vary with peak and non peak dates, All our prices are available on request via our "package information" document.

  • • The main room available for dressing from 11am until 4pm on the eve of the wedding until. All decorations are expected to be cleared away by 12pm the day after your wedding
    • All cutlery and glassware
    • All tables and chairs
    • Welcome drinks (a choice of gin cocktails, prosecco, bottled beers, sangria or a mix)
    • Table wine (half a bottle per person)
    • Prosecco toast

  • We appreciate that this is an incredibly difficult time for everyone and there is a certain degree of uncertainty about what lies ahead. We want you to know that we are doing everything we can at Ponden Mill Weddings to try and keep things running as normal as possible but this is an evolving situation and we will be following and adapting to any guidelines and measures that are put in place by the Government that directly relate to wedding venues. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we all try to navigate our way through these. We do have Covid-19 T&C's available upon request.
